*A special concert as part of Leigh Folk Festival *
Before their headline tour – later this year, Wildwood Kin take to the stage at Leigh Folk Festival. With a recent BBC Radio 2 session recorded live from Maida Vale Studios and festival announcements coming by the day – this all-girl trio are hot right now.
Amassing over 20 million streams across their EPs and debut studio alone, sisters Emillie, Beth and their cousin Meghann captivate with their beautiful ambient folk rock melodies and harmonies. Think shades of Simon & Garfunkel, Rumours, Fleetwood Mac and early Fleet Foxes.
Their second self-titled album recorded in LA, Nashville and Oxfordshire, with co-writers who have worked with international artists such as Taylor Swift, the Kings of Leon and Kodaline, captures this spirit of the band growing up on the wild and free West Country moors. Beautifully gentle folk rock melodies, harmonies and lyrics address profound themes like love, loss and spirituality, while their relatability as young women finding their way in the world shines through.
“The real deal ” — Mark Radcliffe, BBC 6 Music
Supporting is Ellie Gowers, who has just supported BBC Folk Award Winner Blair Dunlop on tour and is now preparing for a set of exclusive album launch shows, ahead of its release in September. Her music embeds a fierce energy that echoes the 60’s folk revival scene. Built from a childhood love of literature and traditional folk song, while also discussing modern narratives, her songs are infused with strong and captivating vocals.
